Introducing SOL’s New Intern: Crystal Compton

Each and every day SOL has the pleasure of working with fantastic people and collaborating with amazing organizations, as in Lisa Williams of Bespoke and everyone over at the Textile Center. We are so grateful for each partnership, interaction, every like and retweet. And today we are proud to announce that addition of our new intern…
CRYSTAL!

This girl is what’s up! Our first introduction to her talents was earlier this year in our student scholarship contest in which she was the winner of a $500 scholarship towards her Bachelor of Science in Apparel Design from the University of Minnesota. When we approached Crystal and she applied for the SOL internship she sent us this bio that she had to write for school and we think that it does a really good job explaining her. So enjoy!

“Crystal Compton, currently working towards graduating from the University of Minnesota in the spring of 2014, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel Design. She is a free spirit who strives to design apparel that has very special, distinct, and thoughtful details that make her creations unique. She is interested in designing ready-to-wear clothing for both women and men to enjoy. Another area she has interest in designing is swimsuits and lingerie for women. When designing or creating anything she tries to incorporate her personal strengths to generate the best solution possible. She is a very hard working person, which also contributes to her persistent behavior of not giving up. Not only is she a very persistent worker, but she is extremely detail oriented and focuses immensely on details when doing anything. Her work has been featured in various shows and events around the Twin Cities, such as: “Flux” Fashion Show, “Twelve” Fashion Show, “No White Design Competition” at The Weisman Art Museum, “Go Red” Fashion show, and most recently the Sol Inspirations “Juxtapose Design Competition.” To learn more about Crystal and all about her work, please visit: www.cargocollective.com/crystalmcompton.”

What I love about Crystal is her hard work ethic, her funky style and her super positive attitude! We are so glad to have her on the team, so get ready to see what this apparel angel is going to bring to the table.
